Milling stability prediction based on the hybrid interpolation scheme of the Newton and Lagrange polynomials

Summary: An improved full-discretization method is proposed to predict the stability lobe diagram of a machining system, with results showing that the FDM with a second-order Lagrange polynomial is optimal and has better computational performance for stability prediction. Changes in dynamic parameters, particularly increases in stiffness and damping ratio, influence chatter stability, leading to enhanced limit cutting depth.
