The metallacages described in this study contain 1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid ligands with different linkers, exhibiting flexible coordination modes. Metallamacrocycles with h3tzdc ligands are rarely documented, as are metallacages with coordinate modes involving three metal centers. Further synthesis of complexes and analysis of their in vitro drug release and skin penetration are needed to establish definitive structure-function correlations.
We describe the metallacages with an 1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid ligands containing different linkers and the pendant arm span the side panels and topic Cp*Rh occupy the vertices. The ligand also can lead to [4Rh + 1 M], and [8Rh + 2 M] core possibly even flexible coordination modes. Metallamacrocycles containing h3tzdc ligands are scarcely documented in the literature, and few metallacages with coordinate modes involving three metal centers have been reported. For these reasons, it is necessary to synthesize more complexes and analyze their in vitro drug release and in vitro skin penetration with the aim of providing definitive structure-function correlations.
