Neutrophils Encompass a Regulatory Subset Suppressing T Cells in Apparently Healthy Cattle and Mice

Marion Rambault et al.

Summary: A new subset of regulatory neutrophils has been identified in mouse bone marrow and circulating in cattle blood, which can suppress T cell proliferation. These regulatory neutrophils, enriched in lymphoid organs, express distinct transcriptomic profiles and demonstrate contact-dependent suppression of T cell proliferation. These findings highlight the role of neutrophils as true partners of the adaptive immune response and suggest potential for new biomarkers and therapeutic interventions in controlling cattle diseases.

The Outcome of Neutrophil-T Cell Contact Differs Depending on Activation Status of Both Cell Types

Danielle Minns et al.

Summary: Resting neutrophils suppress T cell proliferation, activation, and cytokine production, while de-granulating neutrophils do not; Different stages of T cells have different responses to neutrophils, with naive T cells showing no response.

Tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) in human carcinoma-draining lymph nodes: a novel TAN compartment

Silvia Lonardi et al.

Summary: This study identified the presence of TANs in tumor-draining lymph nodes and their clinical significance in nodal spread. In oral squamous cell carcinoma, a high density of CD66b(+) TANs in metastatic lymph nodes was associated with poor prognosis and an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition signature, suggesting a potential role of TANs in promoting nodal spread through EMT.
