The proposed dual-vector model predictive control method aims to minimize current total harmonic distortion (THD) by reducing the area enclosed by the actual current and the reference current. The method is implemented on a single-phase neutral-point clamped three-level pulsewidth modulation rectifier, and its advantages are validated through experiments.
This letter proposes a dual-vector model predictive control method to minimize the current total harmonic distortion (THD). The definition of current THD shows that it is proportional to the area enclosed by the actual current and the current fundamental wave. The lowest current THD is achieved by minimizing the area enclosed by the actual current and the reference current in the control period. This method is implemented on a single-phase neutral-point clamped three-level pulsewidth modulation rectifier, and the advantages of the proposed control method are verified through experiments.
