A Hybrid Model of Permanent-Magnet Machines Combining Fourier Analytical Model With Finite Element Method, Taking Magnetic Saturation Into Account

Summary: Accurate models and fast calculations are essential for designing permanent magnet machines. This article introduces a 2-D hybrid model for surface-mounted PMSM, combining the Fourier model and FEM, considering both magnetic saturation and parallel teeth. The hybrid model outperforms the linear Fourier model in saturated structures and significantly reduces computation compared to FEM.
