This article proposes an extended linear analytical solution based on the exact subdomain technique for any flat linear electromagnetic device, demonstrating excellent results in the application to a slotted linear synchronous machine with different iron core relative permeability values.
This article proposes an extended linear analytical solution based on the exact subdomain (SD) technique applied to any flat linear electromagnetic device for no-load and armature reaction current conditions. A slotted linear synchronous machine with surface-mounted permanent magnet (PM) having Halbach magnetization is proposed in this article. The magnetic field derived from the formal solution of Maxwell's equations is calculated by solving Laplace's and Poisson's equations on a 2-D Cartesian system. The magnetic field distribution is determined in all regions by considering the finite magnetic permeability of soft-magnetic materials in iron parts. It was performed for two different values of iron core relative permeability (viz., 2 and 1000). Finite-element analysis (FEA) demonstrates excellent results of the developed technique.
