Electromagnetic Modeling of Superconductors With Commercial Software: Possibilities With Two Vector Potential-Based Formulations

Summary: In recent years, the H formulation of Maxwell's equations has become the standard for simulating the electromagnetic behavior of superconducting applications with commercial software. However, other formulations may be more suitable for specific cases. This article discusses two approaches based on the magnetic vector potential and extends the T-A formulation to thick conductors, while implementing a quasi critical state model with a steep E-J relationship limited at J(c).
