A RIPOR2 in-frame deletion is a frequent and highly penetrant cause of adult-onset hearing loss

Suzanne E. de Bruijn et al.

Summary: Adult-onset progressive hearing loss is highly heritable and has been identified in 12 families in the Netherlands as an autosomal dominant trait. A 12-nucleotide in-frame deletion in the RIPOR2 gene was found to be a significant cause of this type of hearing loss, affecting protein localization in cochlear hair cells and morphology.

Enlarged vestibular aqueduct and Mondini Malformation: audiological, clinical, radiologic and genetic features

Summary: This study aimed to analyse the clinical and audiological features of a cohort of Caucasian patients with NSEVA/PDS, genetic assessment and inner ear morphology. The results showed a significant correlation between SLC26A4 mutations and the presence of PDS, as well as differences in severity of hearing loss between PDS and NSEVA patients.

Optical genome mapping enables constitutional chromosomal aberration detection

Tuomo Mantere et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of optical genome mapping (OGM) to detect known chromosomal aberrations, with results showing OGM's ability to accurately detect various types of chromosomal abnormalities, including complex rearrangements. High-resolution OGM achieved 100% concordance compared to standard assays for aberrations without centromeric breakpoints.
