Moisture availability mediates the relationship between terrestrial gross primary production and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence: Insights from global-scale variations

Anping Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals significant spatial variations in the GPP/SIF ratio in ecosystems across the globe, which are strongly modulated by climate variables. There is a consistent decrease in GPP/SIF from cold-and-wet to hot-and-dry climates. Empirical modeling using machine learning shows promise in improving ecosystem production modeling and quantifying uncertainty in global terrestrial biosphere models, highlighting the need for targeted field and experimental studies to better understand observed patterns.
