Investigation of the influence of gas fracturing on fracturing characteristics of coal mass and gas extraction efficiency based on a multi-physical field model

Yi Xue et al.

Summary: A hydro-mechanical coupling model is established to analyze the damage characteristics of coal seams during gas fracturing, focusing on fracture criterion, post-peak strain softening, and non-uniform stress state influences. The differences between gas fracturing (nitrogen, CO2) and hydraulic fracturing are studied based on this model, with factors like compression coefficients, viscosities, and coal permeability affecting fracturing pressure.

An incident of water and soil gushing in a metro tunnel due to high water pressure in sandy silt

Dong-Mei Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses an incident of water and soil gushing during the construction of a connecting passage of Metro Line 18 in Shanghai, analyzing the causes, damage, and effectiveness of remedial measures. Remedial measures including grouting and lining reinforcement with reinforced steel ring improved the stability of the tunnel structures.

A new fractional Nishihara-type model with creep damage considering thermal effect

Yi-Ying Feng et al.

Summary: This paper studies the temperature-dependent Nishihara-type model with creep damage based on the Caputo fractional derivative, incorporating the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann law and thermal effects in the improved model. By utilizing Weibull distribution statistics and continuum damage mechanics, a thermal damage effective stress is presented to describe accelerated creep, and the Laplace transform is employed for solving the proposed model and deriving its strain equation. Numerical simulations successfully determine the parameters of the improved fractional TDNM, which provides a more accurate description of the thermal coupling characteristics of salt rock compared to the classical Nishihara model and can simulate creep deformation curves by adjusting model parameters.

Fractional viscoelastic characterization of laminated glass beams under time-varying loading

Mario Di Paola et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the application of fractional viscoelasticity in laminated glass, showing that one element with fractional viscoelastic properties is sufficient to accurately describe the polymer response compared to the traditional method. This approach has great potential in analyzing laminated beams under time-dependent loading.

Multivariate analysis of effects of microencapsulated phase change materials on mechanical behaviors in light-weight aggregate concrete

Lin Zhu et al.

Summary: The multivariate analysis of MPCM-LWAC in this study found that the MPCM content significantly affects the mechanical properties of the material. As the MPCM content increases, the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength decrease, while porosity increases, and the elastic modulus decreases linearly. Additionally, the state of MPCM and water-cement ratio also have different effects on the performance of the material.
