Association of Empiric Antibiotic Regimen Discordance With 30-Day Mortality in Neonatal and Pediatric Bloodstream Infection-A Global Retrospective Cohort Study

Aislinn Cook et al.

Summary: This study found that in children with bacterial bloodstream infections, discordant early empiric antibiotic treatment is associated with a higher 30-day mortality rate, nearly tripling the risk compared to patients receiving concordant treatment. The impact of improved concordance of early empiric treatment on mortality, especially in critically ill patients, needs further investigation.
