Dietary quercetin impacts the concentration of pesticides in honey bees

Hamidreza Ardalani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dietary quercetin on the concentration of pesticides in honey bees. The results showed that quercetin intake can reduce the concentration of imidacloprid in bees, but had no significant effect on tebuconazole and tau-fluvalinate concentrations.

LC-MS/MS Quantification Reveals Ample Gut Uptake and Metabolization of Dietary Phytochemicals in Honey Bees (Apis mellifera)

Nanna Hjort Vidkjaer et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in the metabolism of phytochemicals by honey bees, with atropine, aucubin, and triptolide showing slower metabolism rates. In addition, variations in phytochemical gut uptake and oral bioavailability were observed, with the highest percentages seen for amygdalin, triptolide, and aucubin. These differences were attributed to the chemical properties and structure of the phytochemicals.
