Monofacial and Bifacial Micro PV Installation as Element of Energy Transition-The Case of Poland

Piotr Olczak et al.

Summary: The availability of government subsidies in Poland has boosted interest in PV installations, leading to a significant increase in installed capacity. The study compared the energy production and CO2 emission reduction of two types of solar installations in Poland, finding that bifacial PV installations outperformed monofacial ones in terms of energy production and CO2 emission reduction.

Field Performance of South-Facing and East-West Facing Bifacial Modules in the Arctic

Christopher Pike et al.

Summary: This paper systematically compares south-facing monofacial and bifacial PV modules in Alaska, showcasing a 21% annual gain with bifacial modules. Vertical east-west bifacial modules have similar annual production to south-facing latitude tilt bifacial modules, but with different energy production profiles.

Performance Analysis of Bifacial PV Modules with Transparent Mesh Backsheet

Juhee Jang et al.

Summary: This study extends an optical model based on a simplified ray tracing approach to describe the effects achieved through a mesh structure. Findings show that the optimal power gain can be achieved when the width of the mesh is the same as the spacing between the cells. The power gain due to improved internal reflection outweighs the power loss due to increased module temperature.

Solar Tracking System with New Hybrid Control in Energy Production Optimization from Photovoltaic Conversion for Polish Climatic Conditions

Grazyna Frydrychowicz-Jastrzebska et al.

Summary: This study compares the electricity production of two 1000 W-p photovoltaic systems in central Poland, finding that using a dual-axis tracking system can increase electricity production by 35.6% and 44.7% compared to fixed units. The results suggest that the region's climate conditions are favorable for the use of astronomical-sensor spatial positioning systems for photovoltaic modules, even with a significant share of diffuse solar radiation in the total radiation. This information may simplify the planning of solar tracking investments and assist in estimating the investment return period and operational costs.
