An insight into the formation of liquid bridge and its role on fracture capillary pressure during gravity drainage in fractured porous media

Behrouz Harimi et al.

Summary: This study employs a one-dimensional model based on slender-drop theory to investigate the characteristics of liquid droplets during the process of flowing into fractures and the conditions for forming liquid bridges. Various factors such as liquid viscosity, influx rate, surface tension, and density differences were analyzed for their effects on the shape, volume, and length of the droplets. The critical length of the droplets is shown to be influenced by liquid viscosity and influx rate, while the stability of formed liquid bridges is affected by fracture aperture.
