Consumption-based carbon emissions in Mexico: An analysis using the dual adjustment approach

Xiaojuan He et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of financial development and globalization on consumption-based carbon emissions in Mexico using a newly developed dual adjustment approach. The findings suggest that financial development and globalization improve environmental quality, while energy consumption and economic growth deteriorate it. Trade openness does not have a significant impact on environmental quality.

Renewable Energy Consumption, CO2 Emissions, and Economic Growth Nexus: A Simultaneity Spatial Modeling Analysis of EU Countries

Riza Radmehr et al.

Summary: The study found positive spatial correlations among economic growth, carbon emissions, and renewable energy consumption in EU countries. The relationships between economic growth and carbon emissions, as well as economic growth and renewable energy consumption, are bidirectional, while the nexus between economic growth and renewable energy consumption is unidirectional. These findings have implications for designing effective environmental and energy policies to meet EU targets for economic development and sustainability.

Modeling CO2 emissions in Malaysia: an application of Maki cointegration and wavelet coherence tests

Lingyun Zhang et al.

Summary: The study examines the long-run and causal impact of economic growth, financial development, urbanization, and gross capital formation on Malaysia's CO2 emissions using various econometric techniques. The findings suggest that economic growth, gross capital formation, and urbanization have a positive impact on CO2 emissions, with significant dependency between these factors. Tests also reveal unidirectional causality from urbanization, economic growth, and gross capital formation to CO2 emissions.

The Imperativeness of Environmental Quality in China Amidst Renewable Energy Consumption and Trade Openness

Ozgur Bayram Soylu et al.

Summary: This study examines the time-frequency dependence between CO2 emissions and renewable energy, economic growth, trade openness, and energy usage in China between 1965 and 2019 using wavelet tools. The findings indicate long-term relationships among these variables, with a positive relationship between CO2 emissions and economic growth and energy usage at all frequencies. The results also show a weak negative relationship between renewable energy and CO2 emissions in the short run, and no significant co-movement between CO2 emissions and trade openness.

Impact of renewable energy consumption, globalization, and technological innovation on environmental degradation in Japan: application of wavelet tools

Tomiwa Sunday Adebayo et al.

Summary: The study found that globalization, GDP growth, and technological innovation increase CO2 emissions in Japan, while renewable energy usage helps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the short to medium term. Therefore, policymakers should effectively coordinate policies to curb environmental degradation in Japan.
