Thermodiffusion of aqueous solutions of various potassium salts

Summary: Thermophoresis is a sensitive tool for monitoring protein-ligand binding, but the microscopic mechanisms in protein systems are still poorly understood due to the challenges of separating the effects of the protein system from added buffers. This study systematically investigates the thermodiffusion of aqueous potassium salt solutions, aiming to achieve a more fundamental understanding of the thermodiffusion of proteins. Comparisons with non-ionic solutes and discussions on ion-specific solvation provide insights into the thermophoresis of salts in protein systems.
