A DFT study of enhancement of H2O activation in vibrational excitation

Chaoyi Qian et al.

Summary: This study provides an ab-initio investigation on the correlation between activation of H2O and shift of infrared vibrational spectra on the CuPd alloy model system, revealing the significant role of alloying effect in promoting H2O dissociation. The interaction between H2O and catalysts primarily originates from d-states, with the red-shift of center of stretching modes of adsorbed H2O being a promising descriptor of H2O activation.

Electrochemical sensor based on 1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone adsorbed on a glassy carbon electrode for the detection of [Cu(CN)3](aq) 2? in alkaline cyanide copper plating baths waste

Andy A. Cardenas-Riojas et al.

Summary: A novel electrochemical sensor was fabricated for detecting the complex ion [Cu(CN)3]2? in cyanide alkaline copper plating baths effluents. The sensor, using a surface modified glassy carbon electrode with 1,8-dihydroxyantroquinone (1,8-DHAQ), exhibited good reproducibility and resistance to interfering ions. DFT approach indicated noncovalent interactions and almost parallel orientation of the sensor components on the glassy carbon surface.
