Linking microbial community structure with molecular composition of dissolved organic matter during an industrial-scale composting

Jiangang Che et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition and microbial community structure during industrial-scale composting, revealing significant changes in both the molecular composition of DOM and microbial community structure. Network analysis identified Caldicoprobacter, Bacillus, and Dechloromonas as key players in the transformation process of DOM in composting, influencing the degradation of carbohydrates, acceleration of humification, and degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
