Uncertainty shocks of Trump election in an interval model of stock market

Yuying Sun et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new class of nonlinear interval models for interval-valued time series and develops a nonlinear minimum-distance estimation method for these models. The study uses the 2016 US presidential election as a case study to analyze its impact on the US stock market, finding that the election increased the level/trend of the S&P 500 index and lowered its volatility. Additionally, the impact of the election on fundamental value is shown to be more persistent than its impact on market efficiency.

Brexit and Its Impact on the US Stock Market

Qiao Kenan et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the impact of Brexit on the US stock market using a novel interval methodology. The study finds that both the trend and volatility of S&P500 returns increased before Brexit, with negative short-term effects on the trend and positive effects on volatility post-Brexit. Additionally, the research identifies short-term momentum effects and volatility clustering in the stock market.
