Response of bacterial and fungal communities to high petroleum pollution in different soils

Summary: Soil microorganisms can decompose petroleum at low concentrations for soil remediation. The study found that heavy soil pollution cases are less studied, and oil pollution leads to changes in microbial community composition. Oil-degrading bacteria became dominant in all soil samples regardless of the level of petroleum pollution.
