Sensitive and Visual Detection of Phosgene by a TICT-Based BODIPY Dye with 8-(o-Hydroxy)aniline as the Active Site

Ying-Long Fu et al.

Summary: Two BODIPY-based fluorescent probes were prepared and compared for their detection performance towards triphosgene, with o-Pha displaying better sensitivity. A red-fluorescence probe, o-Phae, was developed with rapid response and high selectivity for triphosgene. Finally, a facile test strip for phosgene detection was fabricated, showcasing sensitive and selective detection in the gas phase.

Fabrication of a new fluorogenic probe for detection of phosgene in solution and vapor phase

Lakshman Patra et al.

Summary: The fluorogenic probe COUBM is designed for rapid detection of phosgene in both solution and gas phase. It reacts with phosgene to form a carbamylated product, resulting in a sharp increase in fluorescence intensity. The probe can efficiently detect phosgene in vapor phase using a COUBM loaded filter paper kit, and theoretical calculations are performed to interpret the electronic structure and sensing mechanism.

Two-phase activated colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent sensor for visual detection of phosgene via AIE coupled TICT processes

Qinghua Hu et al.

Summary: In this paper, an excellent colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent sensor DPA-CI was specifically designed and synthesized for rapid and convenient detection of the highly toxic phosgene. The sensor exhibited visible colorimetric and fluorescent color change in solution and in gaseous conditions, with excellent selectivity, rapid response, and fair sensitivity. The design strategy based on enhanced push-pull electronic structure with AIE and TICT properties shows promising potential for portable and visual sensing of gaseous phosgene.
