Plasminogen deficiency does not prevent sodium retention in a genetic mouse model of experimental nephrotic syndrome

Mengyun Xiao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that mice lacking urinary plasminogen are not protected from ENaC-mediated sodium retention in experimental NS, indicating an essential role of other urinary serine proteases in the absence of plasminogen.

Plasminogen-induced foam cell formation by macrophages occurs through a histone 2B (H2B)-PAR1 pathway and requires integrity of clathrin-coated pits

Lahoucine Izem et al.

Summary: The study found that the level of H2B is closely related to plasminogen-mediated foam cell formation by macrophages, and PAR1 is also involved in this process. Additionally, H2B and PAR1 colocalize in clathrin-coated pits on the surface of the macrophages, and the full effect of plasminogen-induced foam cell formation requires the integrity of clathrin-coated pits.

Plasminogen Receptors and Fibrinolysis

Lindsey A. Miles et al.

Summary: The role of plasminogen receptors on cell surfaces in promoting fibrinolysis is well recognized, with these receptors shown to regulate fibrin surveillance in addition to plasminogen directly bound to fibrin. Data from murine models predominantly demonstrate the ability of specific plasminogen receptors on eukaryotic cells to promote fibrinolysis in vivo. The roles of distinct plasminogen receptors in intravascular fibrinolysis, immune cell recruitment in the inflammatory response, wound healing, and lactational development are discussed.
