Silicon oxycarbonitride ceramic containing nickel nanoparticles: from design to catalytic application

Summary: Nickel-containing silicon oxycarbonitride ceramic nanocomposites were synthesized through a room temperature chemical reaction and pyrolysis at elevated temperatures, exhibiting catalytic activity in dry methane reforming. Materials derived from different precursors showed differences in pore structure, with Durazane 1800-Ni precursor samples having microporous structure and PHPS-Ni precursor samples having nonporous structure. The materials with nickel nanoparticles in situ formed in the ceramic matrix are promising candidates for heterogeneous catalysis.
