Researchers summarized the progress in the area of asymmetric catalysis using metal-organic frameworks, highlighting the promising applications of homochiral MOFs in stereoselective catalysis.
To date, porous coordination polymers (metal-organic frameworks, MOFs) have been extensively studied in multiple applications, including the use of homohiral or chirally modified MOFs in stereoselective catalysis. Homochiral MOFs, assembled from enantiopure chiral building blocks, have sufficient chemical robustness, demonstrate chiral recognition capabilities, hold rich possibilities of synthetic modifications in order to introduce catalytically active sites, and, in addition to catalyst-substrate interactions, may impose size and confined-space effects, thus providing additional means of finely tuning the catalytic activity and selectivity. Herein, the progress in the area of asymmetric catalysis using metal-organic frameworks, achieved during the twenty years of investigation, is summarized. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
