Influence of low-temperature curing on the mechanical strength, hydration process, and microstructure of alkali-activated fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag mortar

Xiaobin Wei et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of low-temperature curing on the mechanical properties, hydration process, hydration products, pore characteristics, and microstructure of alkali activated FA and GGBFS mortar. The results showed that low-temperature curing decreased the compressive strength, delayed the hydration process, and resulted in the formation of harmful pores in the alkali activated mortar.

The performance of fiber GGBS based alkali-activated concrete

Nancy Hammad et al.

Summary: The study investigated the performance of alkali-activated slag concrete (AAC) reinforced with structural polypropylene and steel fibers cured at ambient room temperature. The results showed an improvement in compressive and split tensile strength with the addition of fibers, exhibiting early high strength development. Additionally, a comparison between ACI 318 and ECP 203 provisions indicated a more conservative prediction by ACI 318.
