Influence of carbon black on the Payne effect of filled natural rubber compounds

Xuanyu Shi et al.

Summary: The enhancement of the Payne effect by incorporating carbon black in natural rubber has been investigated, with findings showing that low temperature and high frequency accelerate the effect. The destruction and recovery of carbon black agglomerates are not synchronized with the appearance of the Payne effect, indicating that the structural evolution of the filler phase is not the main factor dominating the effect.

Pan-Milling: Instituting an All-Solid-State Technique for Mechanical Metastable Oxides as High-Performance Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes

Xingang Liu et al.

Summary: All-solid-state mechanochemistry is experiencing a renaissance period, with high-energy ball-milling being widely used in the preparation of metal oxide composites for lithium-ion batteries. However, ball-milling can potentially destroy crystalline structures, leading to the development of pan-milling as a new technique for stable composite preparation. This technique preserves crystal structure and achieves better dispersion, resulting in improved electrochemical performance in energy storage applications.

SiC Nanowire-Si3N4 Nanobelt Interlocking Interfacial Enhancement of Carbon Fiber Composites with Boosting Mechanical and Frictional Properties

Leilei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel interlocking enhancement strategy by incorporating silicon carbide nanowires and silicon nitride nanobelts into carbon fiber composites to improve their mechanical and frictional properties. The interlocking enhancement mechanism not only increases the interlaminar shear strength and compressive strength of the composites, but also decreases the friction coefficient and wear rate.

Selective degradation and oxidation of hemicellulose in corncob to oligosaccharides: From biomass into masking agent for sustainable leather tanning

Zhicheng Jiang et al.

Summary: The selective degradation of hemicellulose in corncob and oxidation of oligosaccharides allows for the production of masking agents with high coordination ability, facilitating the penetration of metal species into the leather matrix. By controlling the degradation of hemicellulose and oxidation of oligosaccharides, an efficient masking effect can be achieved, leading to a uniform distribution of metal species and improved shrinkage temperature in chrome-free tanned leather.
