Graphene and carbon nanotube-based high-sensitive film sensors for in-situ monitoring out-of-plane shear damage of epoxy composites

Guangming Yang et al.

Summary: This study aims to improve the monitoring sensitivity to out-of-plane shear damage by constructing hybrid GN/CNT film sensors, which show high sensitivity to the initiation and growth of shear damage, as well as stable sensitivity to shear deformation and damage under cyclic loading. The obtained high sensitivity demonstrates the prospective application of GN/CNT hybrid film sensors in structural health monitoring of composite materials.

Characterizing delamination toughness of laminated composites containing carbon nanotubes: Experimental study and stochastic multi-scale modeling

Roham Rafiee et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the influence of adding carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to laminated composites on delamination resistance through experimental and theoretical assessments. It was found that incorporating CNT as a novel technique can considerably improve the delamination toughness of laminated composites. The outputs of the modeling procedure showed good agreement with the conducted experimental study.

Hollow-porous fibers for intrinsically thermally insulating textiles and wearable electronics with ultrahigh working sensitivity

Yunfei Yu et al.

Summary: This study developed stretchable hollow-porous fibers with self-warming ability, achieving properties of electrical heating, strain sensing, temperature sensing, and pressure sensing. These fibers showed ultra-high stretchability and excellent properties under extreme conditions. They can be used in all-in-one integrated wearable systems, demonstrating promising prospects for next generation electronic skins to detect human motions, monitor body temperature, provide thermal therapy, and exhibit inherent self-warming ability.
