Sustainable use of recycled carbon fiber reinforced polymer and crumb rubber in concrete: mechanical properties and ecological evaluation

Chen Xiong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of using recycled CFRP fiber reinforced rubberized concrete (RFRRC) to improve material properties and reduce environmental pollution. The results show that RFRRC enhances ductility, flexural toughness, impact resistance and energy absorption capacity. Application of RFRRC in construction fields can substantially reduce CO2 emissions and benefit the ecological environment.

Production of sustainable and structural fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete with improved fracture properties: A review

Wisal Ahmed et al.

Summary: FRAC, a sustainable and economically feasible structural concrete, is gaining popularity due to its high strength, eco-friendly, and cost-effectiveness benefits. This article comprehensively reviews the use of fibers such as steel fiber, polypropylene fiber, basalt fiber, and glass fiber in enhancing the strength of FRAC, highlighting their effects on flowability, compressive strength, flexural strength, and other durability aspects. Effective utilization of these fibers can help in maximizing the use of recycled concrete aggregate in structural concrete and implementing the concept of circular economy in the construction sector.

Development of high performance recycled carbon fibre composites with an advanced hydrodynamic fibre alignment process

Zhe Liu et al.

Summary: Carbon fibre composites have the potential to lighten vehicles, but high production costs and environmental impact are obstacles. Recycled fibre could reduce costs and environmental impact, but faces challenges in mechanical performance and processing. The developed alignment process allows for high fibre content composites with competitive mechanical properties.
