Extending Friedmann Equations Using Fractional Derivatives Using a Last Step Modification Technique: The Case of a Matter Dominated Accelerated Expanding Universe

Ernesto Barrientos et al.

Summary: The study presents a toy model for extending the Friedmann equations of relativistic cosmology using fractional derivatives, with the aim to explain the current observed acceleration of the Universe without the need for a dark matter component. Using fractional calculus, the model shows that the accelerated expansion of the Universe can be explained without the use of dark energy component with a MOND-like behavior.

Newtonian fractional-dimension gravity and rotationally supported galaxies

Gabriele U. Varieschi

Summary: The study focuses on analyzing Newtonian fractional-dimension gravity in lower dimensional spaces and applying the model to rotationally supported galaxies, examining the connection between the model and modified Newtonian dynamics. The research provides rotation curve fits for three galaxies, suggesting a relationship between acceleration constant and natural scale length, and explaining the radial acceleration relation in terms of variable local dimension.

Newtonian fractional-dimension gravity and disk galaxies

Gabriele U. Varieschi

Summary: This paper builds upon previous work on a novel alternative model of gravity, applying it to axially symmetric structures like disk galaxies and exploring a possible connection to modified Newtonian dynamics. By utilizing empirical relations and a variable local dimension, the study explains the relationship between observed radial acceleration and baryonic radial acceleration.

Fractional dark energy

Ricardo G. Landim

Summary: This paper introduces the fractional dark energy model, where the accelerated expansion of the Universe is driven by a nonrelativistic gas with a noncanonical kinetic term, mimicking the energy density of the cosmological constant. The inverse momentum operator appears in fractional quantum mechanics and is the inverse of the Riesz fractional derivative. The observed vacuum energy can be obtained through the Fermi-Dirac (or Bose-Einstein) distribution and the lowest allowed energy of the particles.
