Treatment of microplastics in water by anodic oxidation: A case study for polystyrene

Marthe Kiendrebeogo et al.

Summary: This paper reported the treatment of microplastics using the electrooxidation process, with results showing that the process can degrade around 58% of microplastics in 1 hour. Analysis revealed that factors such as current intensity, anode material, electrolyte type and concentration significantly affected the removal efficiency, while anode surface area had minimal impact.

Broadening cognizance on atomically thin photocatalysts

Yee Wen Teh et al.

Summary: Photocatalysts with atomic dimensions demonstrate superior performance in photocatalytic applications due to their large surface-to-volume ratio, enormous surface active sites, and superior light harvesting ability. The single-unit-cell thickness reduces interlayer charge transfer resistance, facilitating rapid transfer of electrons and holes from the interior to the surface.
