Co-assembled Supramolecular Gel of Dipeptide and Pyridine Derivatives with Controlled Chirality

Aoli Wu et al.

Summary: This study successfully obtained supramolecular gels with a transition from amyloid-like beta-sheet to different supramolecular helices through co-assembly of a specific core recognition motif, revealing the vital roles of the microenvironment of chiral carbon and different stacking modes of additives in the chiral transfer or amplification of L-FmocFF. The dynamic process of helix formation was captured, providing a convenient co-assembly method to explore the structure basis of A beta fibrils with controlled chirality.

Tunable morphology and functionality of multicomponent self-assembly: A review

Liangchun Li et al.

Summary: The programmed self-assembly and self-organization of well-designed molecular monomers have been widely used to design stable nanostructures with desired structures and unique functions. Multicomponent supramolecular self-assembly offers the possibility to control the self-assembly process and generate a wider and more complex structure, enhance modularity, and provide spatiotemporal control of self-assembly. This new approach may offer a way to build tuning morphology and functionality materials.

Reversible Control of DNA Binding with Cucurbit[8]uril-Induced Supramolecular 4,4′-Bipyridinium-Peptide Dimers

Paula Novo et al.

Summary: Many cellular processes in living organisms are regulated by complex regulatory networks involving relatively few proteins that switch between different assemblies to perform their functions. This study demonstrates that the conjugation of a specific scaffold to a transcription factor can control its dimerization through a supramolecular complex, allowing for reversible binding to DNA target in response to external stimuli.

Janus Nanosheets with Face-Selective Molecular Recognition Properties from DNA-Peptide Conjugates

Shine K. Albert et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the fabrication of Janus nanosheets from molecular building blocks composed of DNA and peptides, and reveals the formation of nanosheets with distinct DNA and peptide faces. The surprisingly level of structural control is attributed to the exclusive parallel beta-sheet formation of phenylalanine-rich peptides. Furthermore, the predictable and designable peptide interaction is shown to be a promising tool for creating Janus nanostructures with regio-selective and sequence-specific molecular recognition properties.
