Observation of the Main Natural Parameters Influencing the Formation of Gas Hydrates

Alberto Maria Gambelli et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of seawater chemical composition in marine sediments on the phase behavior of natural gas hydrates, by analyzing the abundance of main elements such as sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, and sulfate. The results were used to determine the effect of water salinity on hydrate formation thermodynamics, and experimental testing revealed that the presence of different porous media affected the hydrate formation process.
