Development and Properties of New Mullite Based Refractory Grog

Summary: This study focuses on the optimization and characterization of a high-alumina refractory aggregate using natural raw materials such as kaolins, claystone, and mullite dust by-product. Various analyses were conducted to investigate mineral, chemical compositions, microstructures, and properties of the designed aggregates, leading to the selection of a formula with potential as a new mullite grog. The quality of grog significantly influences the properties of the final product, highlighting the importance of aggregate optimization for specific refractories and the utilization of industrial by-products.
