Tribo-Mechanical characterization of carbonized coconut shell micro particle reinforced with Cissus quadrangularis stem fiber/epoxy novel composite for structural application

Summary: This article investigates the mechanical and tribological properties of Cissus quadrangularis stem fiber (CQSF)/epoxy resin particulate with the addition of coconut shell ash (CSA) powder. The study analyzes the tribological characteristics using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and calculates the specific wear rate of the materials under different experimental conditions. The results show that CQSF/epoxy composite with the appropriate addition of CSA powder has improved tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness, and impact strength.

The newly developed epoxy hybrid composites showed higher resistance to temperature changes compared to pure polymer samples.

Biodegradable films based on chitosan and defatted Chlorella biomass: Functional and physical characterization

Summary: Biodegradable films based on chitosan, glycerol, and defatted Chlorella biomass were prepared and characterized, showing that increasing the content of defatted algal biomass improved mechanical properties but reduced water barrier and optical properties of the films. Through microscopy and spectroscopy analysis, the enhancement in properties was attributed to the uniform distribution of DCB and the establishment of hydrogen bond interactions between components.
