Influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Medical Adherence and Outcome in Estrogen Receptor (+) Breast Cancer Patients in Taiwan: A Real-World Population-Based Cohort Study

Summary: The study investigated the effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on medical adherence to hormonal therapy (HT) and survival outcome in ER (+) breast cancer patients in Taiwan. The results showed that TCM was significantly associated with reduced risk of breast cancer-associated mortality in patients with HT adherence of at least 80%.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Aiduqing formula suppresses breast cancer metastasis via inhibiting CXCL1-mediated autophagy

Summary: This study demonstrated that the ADQ formula inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and autophagy while inducing apoptosis of high-metastatic breast cancer cells in vitro. Mechanism investigations revealed that CXCL1-mediated autophagy might be the crucial pathway of ADQ formula in suppressing breast cancer metastasis. Furthermore, the inhibitory effects of ADQ formula on breast cancer growth, autophagy, and metastasis were validated in zebrafish xenotransplantation model and mouse xenografts.
