A universal surface modification method of carbon nanotube fibers with enhanced tensile strength

Taehoon Kim et al.

Summary: A new surface treatment method for CNTFs was proposed to enhance tensile strength and attach desired functional groups, resulting in an increased specific strength. The surface-treated CNTF exhibited different behavior in resin infiltration and influenced the interfacial shear strength between fibers and resin, with significant improvements in IFSS values when introducing amine groups.

Deep-injection floating-catalyst chemical vapor deposition to continuously synthesize carbon nanotubes with high aspect ratio and high crystallinity

Sung-Hyun Lee et al.

Summary: The DI-FCCVD technique enables continuous synthesis of carbon nanotubes with high aspect ratio and high crystallinity at a high production rate. The carbon nanotube fiber produced from this technique demonstrates comparable performance to state-of-the-art carbon fibers, making it suitable for widespread industrial applications.

The synergetic relationship between the length and orientation of carbon nanotubes in direct spinning of high-strength carbon nanotube fibers

Tao Zhou et al.

Summary: FCCVD is an attractive method for synthesizing high-strength CNT fibers, with the key factors of CNT orientation, length, and inter-tube impurities. By adjusting winding rate and reaction zone length during growth, the assembly structure of CNT fibers can be optimized to achieve stable and continuous synthesis with improved mechanical properties.
