Polysaccharides from Pleurotus eryngii: Selective extraction methodologies and their modulatory effects on THP-1 macrophages

Hellen Abreu et al.

Summary: Polysaccharides from P. eryngii mushroom were extracted using low-cost technologies, resulting in different fractions with immunostimulatory properties on THP-1 macrophages. The main polysaccharides included Mannogalactan and various β-glucans, which were not cytotoxic and induced different cellular responses. This simple technique allows the obtainment of fractions with distinct immunomodulatory activities, showing the potential for future biological effects research.
