Use of biochar as feed supplements for animal farming

Ka Yan Man et al.

Summary: The use of biochar as a feed additive has been shown to have positive effects on animal growth performance, blood profiles, egg production, pathogen resistance, and methane reduction in ruminant animals. Additionally, the high sorption capacity of biochar efficiently aids in removing pollutants and toxins from animals' bodies and farm environments. It is anticipated that biochar will see increased use in animal farming, with potential applications in the medical and human health sectors as well.

Mechanisms and adsorption capacities of biochar for the removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from industrial wastewater

T. G. Ambaye et al.

Summary: The rapid growth of urbanization and industrialization in developing countries has led to a significant increase in industrial wastewater production, posing high environmental risks if not properly treated. The application of biochar in removing organic and inorganic pollutants from industrial effluents has attracted attention. Future research should focus on optimizing biochar production and regeneration methods to enhance adsorption capacity and economic benefits.

Progress in microwave pyrolysis conversion of agricultural waste to value-added biofuels: A batch to continuous approach

Shengbo Ge et al.

Summary: Microwave pyrolysis is a promising technique for converting agricultural wastes into biofuels. However, challenges remain in continuous production and there is a need for further research in microwave heating, product yield, and reactor design. Despite these challenges, microwave valorization offers environmental and economic benefits as an alternative energy generation route.

Adsorptive removal of cationic dyes using hybrid material-based polyelectrolyte modified laterite soil

Thi Mai Viet Ngo et al.

Summary: The study investigates the removal of cationic dyes from water using a novel material formed by strong polyanion, polystyrene sulfonate (PSS), on laterite soil. The modified soil, called polymer modified laterite (PML), showed high efficiency in removing crystal violet (CV) and methylene blue (MB), achieving removal rates over 92% and 83% respectively under optimal conditions. The adsorption isotherms and thermodynamic study indicated an exothermic process with Langmuir model conformity and confirmed electrostatic interactions as the key mechanism.
