Hydrogeophysical investigation at El Moghra Area, North Western Desert, Egypt

Sultan A. S. Araffa et al.

Summary: The El Moghra area in the western desert of Egypt is part of a national reclamation project that relies on the local El Moghra Formation as its main aquifer. The region has good soil suitable for agricultural development. The subsurface stratigraphy consists of six geo-electrical units, with the main aquifer represented by the fourth and sixth units intercalated with a clay unit.

Magnetometric Identification of Sub-basins for Hydrocarbon Potentialities in Qattara Ridge, North Western Desert, Egypt

M. Abdelazeem et al.

Summary: This study aims to detect Phanerozoic sedimentary sub-basins and their hydrocarbon potential within the Qattara Ridge in the northern Western Desert of Egypt through the interpretation of high-resolution land magnetic data. The research demonstrates structurally controlled sub-basins and their relation to hydrocarbon reservoirs, as well as variations in magnetic anomalies in the area.

Geohazard characterization of subsurface materials using integrated geophysical methods for post foundation studies: a case study

Akindeji O. Fajana

Summary: Various geophysical methods, such as seismic refraction, electromagnetic resistivity, and magnetics prospecting, were used to investigate the origin of building cracks. The study revealed a high concentration of fractures in the area, potentially causing foundation subsidence and building failure. Additionally, geological features like faults within the bedrock may also affect building foundations.
