Multiparametric functional MRI and18F-FDG-PET for survival prediction in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma treated with (chemo)radiation

Roland M. Martens et al.

Summary: Functional imaging parameters, including DWI/IVIM, DCE-MRI, and(18)F-FDG-PET/CT, have complementary value in capturing tumor characteristics and predicting locoregional recurrence-free survival and overall survival in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Factors such as intoxications, HPV-negative status, large tumor volume-related parameters, high permeability, and high extravascular extracellular space parameters were predictive for adverse outcomes.
