A multilevel assessment of the social determinants associated with the late stage diagnosis of breast cancer

Nayara Priscila Dantas de Oliveira et al.

Summary: The study found that advanced breast cancer diagnosis was associated with younger age groups, race/nonwhite, lower education levels, and public access to health services. It also identified associations with low density of mammographic equipment, low indices of local social inequality, and low human development indices. This research provides essential data for reorienting public policies and health-related actions to strengthen breast cancer control in Brazil.
