The influence of upslope fog on hygroscopicity and chemical composition of aerosols at a forest site in Taiwan

Chia-Li Chen et al.

Summary: This study found that upslope fog formation had an impact on the chemical composition and hygroscopicity of rural aerosols. Larger particles had higher fog scavenging removal efficiency, and submicrometer nitrate particles were likely formed via gas-particle partitioning. The inconsistency of submicrometer nitrate between real-time AMS and offline FTIR-ATR measurements suggests potential evaporation loss during sampling.
