Near infrared to ultraviolet upconversion nanocomposite for controlling the permittivity of polyspiropyran shell

Summary: NIR-to-UV up-conversion nanocomposites with reversible hydrophobic-hydrophilic transformations were prepared and used to load and release the anticancer drug DOX under NIR irradiation and pH conditions. The cytotoxicity evaluation showed minimal toxicity of the nanocomposites to breast cancer cells, while DOX exhibited toxicity when triggered by NIR light.

Optimizing the Polymer Cloak for Upconverting Nanoparticles: An Evaluation of Bioactivity and Optical Performance

Results show that the bioactivity and luminescence properties of UCNPs are dependent on chain length and grafting density.
