Yebes 40 m radio telescope and the broad band Nanocosmos receivers at 7 mm and 3 mm for line surveys

F. Tercero et al.

Summary: The Yebes 40 m radio telescope, equipped with new receivers in Q band and W band, has increased its frequency coverage for observing molecular transitions efficiently in single-dish mode. The results demonstrate high sensitivity in Q band and comparable results to IRAM 30 m radio telescope in W band, opening up new possibilities to study astrophysical media with unprecedented sensitivity.

Pure hydrocarbon cycles in TMC-1: Discovery of ethynyl cyclopropenylidene, cyclopentadiene, and indene

J. Cernicharo et al.

Summary: This study reports the first detection of three new pure hydrocarbon cycles in TMC-1, showing that cyclopentadiene and indene are exceptionally abundant despite their large size. The high abundances of these hydrocarbon cycles, along with other hydrocarbons, suggest a quantification of hydrocarbon rings in cold dark clouds and the identification of intermediate species involved in the synthesis of aromatic cycles. Further studies are needed to explain the formation of five- and six-membered rings under the cold conditions of a cloud like TMC-1.
