A look into Colorado potato beetle lipid metabolism through the lens of lipid storage droplet proteins

Goezde Gueney et al.

Summary: The Colorado potato beetle survives severe winter conditions by going into diapause, during which lipid droplet proteins LSD1 and LSD2 play different roles in lipid storage and utilization in adults and larvae. LSD2 appears to have a core role in protecting and assembling storage lipids, as demonstrated by RNA interference reducing overall lipid droplet volume in larvae.

Mechanisms of Resistance to Insecticidal Proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis

Juan Luis Jurat-Fuentes et al.

Summary: Insecticidal proteins from Bt bacterium are widely used as successful alternatives to synthetic pesticides, but the evolution of resistance in target pests remains a major threat. High-level resistance to Bt sprays is limited in the field, but several lepidopteran and coleopteran species have developed practical resistance to Bt proteins produced in transgenic plants.

Characterization of calcium signaling proteins from the fat body of the Colorado Potato Beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae): Implications for diapause and lipid metabolism

Cansu Dogan et al.

Summary: This study identified three Ca2+ signaling proteins in the fat body of the Colorado Potato Beetle, which play important roles in the insect's development and response to starvation. These proteins are involved in regulating lipid metabolism and their expression levels vary during different stages of development and under starvation conditions.
