Modelling of vehicle-track related dynamics: a development of multi-finite-element coupling method and multi-time-step solution method

Lei Xu et al.

Summary: In this paper, modelling methods are developed to explore the dynamics of the vehicle-track system and its substructures. A coupled model is constructed to characterize the vehicle-track interaction, and a multi-finite-element coupling method is presented to integrate multiple substructures. A multi-time-step solution method is proposed to achieve a hybrid solution. Numerical examples demonstrate the accuracy and practicality of the proposed model and methods.

Matrix coupled model for the vehicle-track interaction analysis featured to the railway crossing

Lei Xu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a matrix coupled model for vehicle-track interaction analysis with a focus on the crossing panel. The model assumes elastic wheel-rail contact and demonstrates the determination of two-point contact during the transition of the wheel load in the crossing panel. Results show the model's capability in capturing the main features of wheel-rail interaction and analyze the impact of track irregularities on the interaction.

Interface damage and arching mechanism of CRTS II slab track under temperature load

Xuhao Cui et al.

Summary: The study investigates the interface damage and arching deformation of CRTS II slab track under high-temperature conditions. Joint concrete damage is identified as the main factor leading to interface damage and arching, with higher levels of joint concrete damage resulting in increased interface damage area and gap height, especially under overall temperature rise. More attention is needed on the construction quality and maintenance of joint concrete.

Long-term prediction of fatigue crack growth in ballastless track of high-speed railway due to cyclic train load

Qingsong Feng et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a vehicle-ballastless track coupled model considering concrete cracks in high-speed railways, utilizing cracked Euler beam elements for modeling and proposing an iterative method to estimate fatigue crack growth. The crack-tip stress intensity factor and crack growth rate induced by high-speed vehicles are analyzed, providing theoretical guidance for routine maintenance of slab tracks.
