This paper presents an experimental study on the sound absorption coefficients of recycled nonwoven composite materials, showing that they have good sound absorption performances and can promote environmentally friendly solutions. The materials were characterized acoustically and in terms of heat transfer, with the influence of structure on sound absorbing properties analyzed. The experimental results were determined using the impedance tube method according to ASTM standards.
The acoustic comfort is closely related to the concept of sound absorption and includes the protection against noise. This paper presents an experimental study on sound absorption coefficients, for recycled nonwoven composite materials: waste materials (Recycled textile waste cotton/polyester nonwoven fabrics) the blending ratio of raw materials is 60: 40 mixed with rigid polyurethane foam as binder. The nonwoven composite materials were characterized both acoustically (sound absorption coefficient SAC) and also in terms of heat transfer (thermal conductivity). The acoustic absorption coefficient was determined using the impedance tube method according to the ASTM Standard (ASTM E 1050). And the influence of structure of these materials on the sound absorbing properties was analyzed. The experimental results show the sound absorption performances of nonwoven composites based on recycled waste materials, thus promoting environmentally friendly solutions.'. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
