Dominant role of two-photon vertex in nonlinear response in two-dimensional Dirac systems

Habib Rostami et al.

Summary: In two-dimensional Dirac systems like graphene, the standard concepts of nonlinear response to electromagnetic fields break down near the Dirac point in the quantum regime. A many-body theory focusing on disorder scattering as a benchmark example reveals a self-generation of a diamagnetic two-photon vertex due to disorder effects, even in the absence of impurities. This self-generation is predicted to only occur in two dimensions and is expected to greatly enhance third-order dc conductivity compared to common models.

Many-body effects in third harmonic generation of graphene

Habib Rostami et al.

Summary: The paper systematically investigates the impact of many-body interactions on the third harmonic generation of graphene, predicting incoherent features in the optical conductivity under specific conditions. The study also highlights the limitations of the phenomenological model in the presence of multiphoton vertex couplings driven by many-body interactions.
