Managing Locally Excited and Charge-Transfer Triplet States to Facilitate Up-Conversion in Red TADF Emitters That Are Available for Both Vacuum- and Solution-Processes

Jia-Xiong Chen et al.

Summary: Developing red thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters for high-performance OLEDs is a challenge, but the newly designed and synthesized red TADF emitters in this study show promising results with significant efficiency enhancements. Among them, oDTBPZ-DPXZ demonstrates efficient TADF feature and high exciton utilization, achieving excellent external quantum efficiency in both vacuum-processed and solution-processed OLEDs. This work provides an effective strategy for designing red TADF molecules by managing energy level alignments to enhance exciton harvesting.

Spiral Donor Design Strategy for Blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters

Wei Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the importance of energy level relationships between spiral donors and luminophores on the photoluminescent quantum yields of materials, and proposes the use of quantum chemistry simulations to accurately predict these relationships. The optimized molecular structure and energy alignment play a key role in enhancing the performance of TADF emitters. Ultimately, the TADF emitter DspiroS-TRZ achieved remarkable results with 99.9% PLQY and 38.4% EQE, the highest reported among all blue TADF emitters to date.

Highly Efficient Near-Infrared Electrofluorescence from a Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Molecule

Umamahesh Balijapalli et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a highly efficient NIR emitter with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and its application to NIR-OLEDs, achieving unprecedented EQE of 13.4% with a peak wavelength at 734 nm. The TPA-PZTCN emitter can sensitize a deeper NIR fluorophore to achieve an EQE of over 1% in a TADF-sensitized NIR-OLED with high operational durability.

Theoretical Insight into Molecular Orientation for Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters in Vacuum Deposition

Kai Ren et al.

Summary: The molecular orientation in vacuum deposition is determined by the intermolecular pi - pi stacking, with strong van der Waals interactions leading to energetically stable molecular conformation. The compact pi - pi stacking on the substrate is responsible for weak emitter-substrate interactions. The theoretical optical properties of indolocarbazole-isomer derivatives match well with experiments, providing a theoretical basis for understanding molecular orientation in vacuum deposition.

The Role of Intermolecular Interactions on the Performance of Organic Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) Materials

Eunkyung Cho et al.

Summary: This study investigates the morphological, electronic, and luminescence properties of TADF emitters, finding that guest-guest interactions can affect the red-shift phenomenon in emission, and contributions from both dimer and monomer states are necessary to describe TADF. Additionally, singlet excitons are identified as the main contributors to exciton diffusion length, contrary to recent proposed models.
