Revealing the Critical Role of Probe Grafting Density in Nanometric Confinement in Ionic Signal via an Experimental and Theoretical Study

Qun Ma et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of DNA probe grafting density on ionic signal in nanochannels, revealing a switch of ionic output from off to on with increasing probe density. Low probe density offers a higher current change ratio, which can be further enhanced by using long-chain DNA probes or low salt concentration electrolytes to increase sensor performance.

Novel electrochemical biosensing platform for microRNA detection based on G-quadruplex formation in nanochannels

Fei Zhao et al.

Summary: An ultrasensitive label-free electrochemical biosensing platform for detecting MiR-21 at a very low concentration was developed by immobilizing capture probes in nanochannels based on G-quadruplex formation. This platform was also successfully applied for MiR-21 detection in serum samples, and has the potential for the assay of other scarce tumor-related genes.

Towards explicit regulating-ion-transport: nanochannels with only function-elements at outer-surface

Qun Ma et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that function elements at the outer surface can independently regulate ion transport in nanochannel systems without the presence of inner wall function elements. Nanochannel systems with explicit properties of only outer surface function elements have advantages in promoting power density, increasing ionic selectivity, and accommodating large size probes or targets.
